Who is the Antichrist?
The Catholic Encyclopedia article on the anti-Christ mentions that St. Bernard and others believed that the only way Anti-Christ could deceive “if it were possible, even the elect”(Math. 24:24) is by becoming an Anti-Pope (‘Popes of the Second Vatican Council’, Dr. James Wardner, p.21)
On Sept. 19, 1846, our Lady foretold at La Salette that: “ROME WILL LOSE THE FAITH AND BECOME THE SEAT OF THE ANTI-CHRIST.”
Prophecy of Blessed Joachim (died 1202): “Towards the end of the world, Anti-Christ will overthrow the Pope and usurp his see.” (“The Reign of Anti-Christ” Rev. R. Gerald Culleton, p.130)
St. Alphonsus taught that 666 – the number of the beast (Apoc.13:18) represented that the Anti-Christ will be distinguished by the doctrine that man is God – the number 6 being considered to be man’s number, since man was created on the 6th day, and God’s number being 3. So the belief that man is God is represented by 6 three times (666). Paul VI says in ‘Documentation Catholique'(no.1580): “All honor to Man, king of the earth and now prince of the heavens!”
In his book “Windswept House”, Malachi Martin (formerly an exorcist) reports that on June 29, ’63, the night before Paul VI’s coronation, a black mass was celebrated and Satan was enthroned in the Vatican! “As in Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead so in Antichrist the fullness of all wickedness. Not indeed in the sense that his humanity is to be assumed by the devil into unity of person…, but that the devil by suggestion infuses his wickedness more copiously into him than into all others.” -St. Thomas Aquinas (Summa III: 8:8)
“Christ arose from among the Hebrews, and he (Antichrist) will spring from among the Jews.” (St. Hippolytus). Note: Paul 666 was Jewish.
“For when he is come, and of his own accord concentrates in his own person the apostasy, and accomplishes whatever he shall do according to his own will and choice, sitting also in the Temple of God so that his dupes may adore him as the Christ…” (St. Irenaeus). St. Peters Basilica has been called by popes the Temple of God.
“But his miracles will be lies. No one can perform a true miracle against the faith, because God is not a witness of falsity. Hence, no one preaching a false doctrine can work miracles, whereas one leading a bad life could.” (Comment in II Thess. II, Lec. 1-III) (St. Thomas Aquinas)
